چکیده

Electrolyte disorders are among the most frequent and challenging problems facing the admitting physician and many have serious prognostic significance1. Early and informed intervention is necessary, but the outcome may be disappointing. Hyponatraemia with serum sodium below 130 mmol/l occurs in 3–5% of hospital admissions2 and death rates vary from 11–70%3. In patients with hypernatraemia with serum sodium above 150 mmol/l death rates have reached 42%, with significant debility among survivors4.

Hypomagnesemia and hypokalemia: a successful oral therapeutic approach after 16 years of potassium and magnesium intravenous replacement therapy

Electrolyte abnormalities are very common problems in clinical practice, and if chronic, their management can be difficult. Hypokalemia, defined as a serum potassium level <3.5 mmol/L, is an exceptionally common electrolyte abnormality encountered in clinical practice; >20% of hospitalized patients have been reported to have some degree of hypokalemia [1]. Hypomagnesemia is also common and has ...

Application of Genetic Programming to Modeling and Prediction of Activity Coefficient Ratio of Electrolytes in Aqueous Electrolyte Solution Containing Amino Acids

Genetic programming (GP) is one of the computer algorithms in the family of evolutionary-computational methods, which have been shown to provide reliable solutions to complex optimization problems. The genetic programming under discussion in this work relies on tree-like building blocks, and thus supports process modeling with varying structure. In this paper the systems containing amino ac...

Hyperkalemia from Dietary Supplements

Hyperkalemia is a common electrolyte problem in patients with chronic kidney disease. It is typically caused by medications in patients with poor kidney function. Patients with comorbodities such as heart failure and diabetes are predisposed to electrolyte problems. Salt substitutes and dietary supplements are uncommon causes of hyperkalemia, but we propose that they are under-recognized and un...
